NRNS has some other KF movie connections the film company was Hong Kong-based Seasonal Films, which produced Secret Rivals I & II, Snake in the Eagle's Shadow, Drunken Master, etc., etc. Either in spite of, or because of this cheesiness, I always enjoyed NRNS much more than The Karate Kid and Rocky IV.movies whose markets it was clearly attempting to appeal to. Cheesey it may be, but I always liked this movie, and this song. NRNS could be considered an "American kung fu movie", as it followed the same conventions as many of the KF films, i.e., the mediocre martial artist who is humiliated and must train hard, usually with the aid of specialized equipment, to face a seemingly unbeatable villain. I'm sure that this song will bring back memories for some, especially those who were around and saw NRNS in the '80s. The practice of using lifted music in KF films started around the late 1960s and basically ended by the mid-'80s, though it still occurred at least a bit into the late '80s. or through their being lifted and used in KF films. One of the reasons I started this thread is also because of the memories that music in movies evokes, either through association with the original film/show/album, etc. I briefly debated whether to include it, then decided what the heck. Heard in some late-'70s to early-'80s kung fu and action films, including: These tracks were commonly heard in modern-day MA/gangster films in HK/Taiwan in the late '70s/early '80s. This was famously in the screen credits of:ĭrunken Dragon (a.k.a., The Exciting Dragon) Several other HK and Taiwan independent films.Ī slightly different version from the same soundtrack is heard in: The Ming Patriots (Revenge of the Patriots) Horse Boxing Killer (a.k.a., Cute Foster Sister)īandits, Prostitutes & Silver (a.k.a., The a.k.a., Battle of Shaolin)

Aside from their being lifted for KF films, they are also simply good soundtracks in and of themselves. I will also name *some of* the films parts of the soundtrack were used for. Some of the tracks that were lifted may be from a particular soundtrack but may not be included on the link. Here are some of the various soundtracks that have been lifted for 1970s to early-'80s kung fu films.
